NALSAR यूनिवर्सिटी के 2026 बैच के छात्रों और बार काउंसिल ऑफ इंडिया (BCI) के बीच विवाद ने देश की कानूनी व्यवस्था में असहमति और अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता पर बड़ी बहस छेड़ दी। छात्रों ने CJI जस्टिस सूर्यकांत को दीक्षांत समारोह में मुख्य अतिथि बनाए जाने पर अपनी आपत्ति दर्ज कराई थी। इसके बाद BCI ने कथित तौर पर पूरे बैच के एडवोकेट एनरोलमेंट पर रोक लगाने का आदेश दिया और छात्रों से आंदोलन से जुड़े लोगों की जानकारी मांगी। फैसले के खिलाफ कानूनी जगत में तीखी प्रतिक्रिया सामने आई और मामला सुप्रीम कोर्ट तक पहुंचा। सुनवाई के दौरान CJI सूर्यकांत ने छात्रों के विरोध के अधिकार का समर्थन करते हुए कहा कि असहमति जताने पर छात्रों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई नहीं होनी चाहिए। इसके बाद BCI ने अपना रुख बदलते हुए छात्रों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई और जांच समाप्त कर दी। यह घटनाक्रम लोकतंत्र, छात्र अधिकार और कानूनी स्वतंत्रता पर महत्वपूर्ण सवाल खड़े करता है।
